Brewer St Austell has announced a partnership with ScottishPower to install over 300 new public electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the pub carparks across the South West of England.
This collaboration comes as a response to the sparse electrical infrastructure in the region, with Cornwall Council estimating only around 450 EV charging points in Cornwall.
The new chargers, which include both rapid and ultra-rapid units, will significantly increase the number of points available in the South West, making it easier for residents and visitors to access reliable and convenient charging facilities.
This initiative is part of St Austell Brewery’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions across its operations by 2040.
Paul Hine, Supply Chain Director at St Austell Brewery, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating:
“We have a proud history of innovation so working with ScottishPower to install electric car chargers was a great way to prepare our pubs for an electric future. For us, going greener makes good business sense.”
Andrew Mouat, Head of Smart Mobility at ScottishPower, highlighted the benefits of the partnership for businesses and the local community, saying:
“At ScottishPower, we want to help businesses integrate green tech into their operations to allow their customers to live a more sustainable lifestyle while creating a new revenue stream.”
The installation of these chargers is not only a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions but also a demonstration of how businesses can collaborate to support sustainable practices and enhance the local infrastructure for the benefit of all.
