From 1 August, 38 charging bays with ultra-fast charging stations, offering up to 400 kilowatts (kW) charging capacity, will be available on a site covering more than 3,000 m².
“We’re building modern infrastructure for electric vehicleS (EVS), which benefits both Amstetten locals and travellers. Located near the Amstetten West motorway exit, the site is easily accessible and further enhanced by food and rest amenities,” stated Christian Haberhauer, Mayor of the City.
With the opening of the new EV charging park, Amstetten is moving one step closer to its mobility transition goals.
“With this park, we’re setting a milestone in our region’s mobility transformation and moving closer to climate-friendly travel in Amstetten,” said Harald Stressler, authorised officer at Ladewerke Amstetten.
This is the first major project of the newly founded Ladewerke Amstetten GmbH, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Amstetten GmbH.
Conveniently located on “der Oiden”, the approximately 3,000 m² site is easily accessible for both local EV drivers and those travelling via the Amstetten West motorway exit.
Once fully developed, the charging park will offer a total of 50 charging bays. Initially, 38 of these will be equipped with ultra-fast charging stations delivering up to 400 kW.
The area will also offer a wide range of amenities, including playgrounds, toilet facilities, and a bistro.
“Our aim is to ensure everyone finds what they need for their journey or next stopover,” Stressler stated.
The on-site bistro, In the Box 21, will follow a regional supply principle to provide food and drink to visitors and will be open to all customers seven days a week.
A diverse mix of charge point operators (CPOs) is ensured, with bays leased to EVN, Ionity, and Tesla.
The charging park also serves as a pilot project for possible future developments of a similar scale.
“We are evaluating ongoing operations here at der Oiden and can derive suitable measures for expansions or new sites,” Stressler explained.
Strengthening Amstetten’s Local Economy
Regional value creation was a top priority during planning and construction.
In addition to PORR Bau GmbH, numerous local companies were involved in the project, including PSB Planung Statistik Bauleitungs GmbH, Starkl Aschbach, Haunschmid Spielplatz- und Forstservice, and Brandstetter Tor und Zaun GmbH.
The charging park is also powered regionally via the expanded photovoltaic network of Stadtwerke Amstetten and the Ybbs-Persenbeug hydroelectric plant.
To celebrate the opening of the new charging park, an official event will be held on 19 September as part of European Mobility Week. The event will take place at the site, Oiden 12, 3300 Amstetten.
