EVBox integrates with E-Flux by Road’s backend to minimize downtime and reduce operating costs

EVBox AC charging stations have been successfully integrated with E-Flux by Road’s backend that supports the OCPP 2.0.1 protocol. OCPP 2.0.1 brings new capabilities such as increased flexibility in transactions, improved smart charging capabilities and more insights into the health of the station through Device Model.

EVBox, a leading provider in electric vehicle (EV) solutions, and Road, an EV charging management platform, have successfully completed OCPP 2.0.1 compatibility testing of EVBox Livo (home charging) and EVBox Liviqo (commercial charging) with Road’s E-Flux backend.

Both EVBox AC charging stations and Road’s E-flux backend support OCPP 2.0.1, the communication protocol that connects EV charging stations to EV charging backends.

OCPP 2.0.1 brings new capabilities such as increased flexibility in transactions, improved smart charging capabilities and more insights into the health of the station through Device Model.

This allows operators to minimize downtime and lower operating costs.

Additionally, OCPP 2.0.1 enhances security across the network to reduce the risk of cyberattacks.

With the successful completion of compatibility testing, users of E-Flux by Road can now add EVBox Livo and Liviqo to their network and benefit from the capabilities of this new generation of charging stations.

“This new addition to our hardware-agnostic EV platform gives installers and customers have more freedom of choice. We have been long-time advocates of OCPP and we utilise the protocol for seamless and secure connectivity,” says Gina ter Heide, Chief Product Officer at Road.

“Our customers who use EVBox’s charge stations can connect using a variety of encryption mechanisms and are assured of simple and straightforward transactions and processes,” she adds.

“With industry partners such as Road, we can enhance the experience for EV drivers and Charge Point Operators with reliable and simple charging solutions. I am pleased to see that Road is a front runner in OCPP 2.0.1 as this enables new possibilities to scale and operate charging stations reliably and securely,” says Markus Dehn, CTO at EVBox.
