The rental solutions market in Europe continues to expand rapidly as businesses increasingly seek integrated and flexible transport solutions to adapt to dynamic market changes.
Under the CharterWay brand, Daimler Truck offers versatile solutions across its Mercedes-Benz truck models, including Actros, eActros, Arocs, Econic, eEconic, and Atego, as well as the Fuso Canter and eCanter.
These solutions cater to logistical needs ranging from one-day rentals to three-year contracts.
With its extensive fleet, CharterWay enables businesses to focus on their core operations while meeting logistical challenges.
For 2025, the introduction of the new flagship Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros 600 aligns with the company’s commitment to zero-emissions transport.
Integration into Daimler Truck Financial Services Since early 2025, CharterWay’s rental business has become part of the service portfolio of Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS), previously operating as a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG.
This transition ensures a seamless experience for customers, with rental contracts and services such as insurance and maintenance agreements continuing without disruption.
“The integration of CharterWay’s rental business is part of our strategy to evolve from a financial services provider to a comprehensive service partner for the commercial vehicle industry. With this, we offer a holistic Truck-as-a-Service solution that includes vehicles, insurance, taxes, maintenance, repairs, and additional digital services. This simplifies fleet management for our customers and enables better cost control,” explains Stephan Unger, CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.
Enhanced Operational Synergy CharterWay is set to collaborate more closely with Daimler Truck Financial Services Deutschland GmbH, both based in Berlin.
“With CharterWay and Daimler Truck Financial Services working together, customers in Germany will receive everything from one source—from daily rentals to leasing and hire-purchase,” states Florian Peterl, Managing Director of Daimler Truck Financial Services Deutschland GmbH.
Martin Kehnen, Managing Director of CharterWay GmbH, adds: “Our goal is to offer holistic and flexible transport solutions that ensure both financial and operational flexibility with predictable costs and reduced risk. With the new eActros 600, our customers can seamlessly integrate electromobility into their fleets without risk.”
Future Growth Opportunities for DTFS The shift towards being a comprehensive service provider opens up new growth opportunities for DTFS, expanding beyond traditional leasing and financing for trucks and buses. This includes offerings related to charging infrastructure, insurance products, and a proprietary payment solution. Customers can bundle these components into flexible monthly packages, tailored to their needs.
Since its launch in December 2021, Daimler Truck Financial Services has been active in 18 countries and plans further expansion in the coming months. With a workforce of around 1,900 employees and a contract volume of €30.4 billion as of mid-2024, DTFS remains one of the world’s largest in-house financial service providers in the commercial vehicle sector.
