Carlsberg Sweden to electrify 40% of logistics with 11 Einride trucks

Carlsberg Sweden will expand its collaboration with Einride in 2025, aiming for up to 40% of its transport operations to be powered by electricity.

To mark this milestone, the company will launch a non-alcoholic beer brewed and distributed exclusively with renewable energy and electric solutions.

Carlsberg Sweden was the first in the industry to electrify heavy freight transport in 2022 and is now strengthening its decarbonisation strategy through an extended agreement with Einride, a Swedish freight technology company.

The full implementation, expected by the end of 2025, will include eleven electric trucks with trailers, operating across southern and western Sweden.

According to the statement, the use of Einride’s platform — which integrates electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and an AI-based operating system — will enable a reduction of approximately 2,460 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

Switching from diesel to electric transport will cut CO₂ emissions by 93%.

“We are excited about our partnership with Einride and the progress we are making towards better logistics together. At Carlsberg Sweden, we are constantly working to take concrete steps towards a more sustainable business, and having more electric vehicles in our transport chain is one example of this,” said Peter Hammarstedt, CEO of Carlsberg Sweden.

An electric-powered beer initiative

As part of this initiative, Carlsberg Sweden will introduce a limited-edition non-alcoholic beer, brewed, produced, and transported using 100 per cent renewable energy and electric transport solutions.

Each can will feature a QR code linking to data on the brewing process and the delivery route between Malmö, Falkenberg, and Gothenburg.

Through this campaign, Carlsberg Sweden and Einride aim to raise awareness of the environmental impact of production and delivery processes, highlighting how electrified transport can reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and deliver long-term business benefits.

“Carlsberg has a strong brewing tradition, and with the support of advanced transport technology, it continues that legacy. This campaign shows what is possible when tradition meets innovation,” said Linnéa Kornehed Falck, Founder and Vice President of Einride.

The collaboration forms part of Carlsberg Sweden’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint across all areas of its operations, aligned with the Carlsberg Group’s goal of achieving a Net Zero Carbon Footprint by 2040.
