ChargePoint, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, and Eaton, a specialist in intelligent power management, have announced a partnership to accelerate and simplify the rollout of EV charging infrastructure across the United States, Canada and Europe.
The companies will integrate their respective EV charging and electrical infrastructure technologies, while co-developing innovations to support bidirectional power flow and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capabilities. These developments will enable electric vehicles to act as energy sources for homes, buildings and other systems.
As part of a turnkey offering, the partnership will deliver a complete EV ecosystem including chargers, electrical infrastructure and engineering services, facilitating the electrification of transport from vehicle to grid.
ChargePoint and Eaton aim to streamline the procurement, design and deployment of EV charging projects. Their joint solutions will help customers manage site power requirements, optimise infrastructure, and reduce total system costs, while enhancing operational reliability.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, commented:
“Our partnership with Eaton will deliver innovation that tackles the biggest barriers to electrified transport. Together, we will create unprecedented value for organisations deploying EV charging—speeding up electrification and helping to decarbonise the planet.”
The collaboration strengthens ChargePoint’s strategic position as an end-to-end provider within the EV ecosystem, encompassing everything from grid integration to vehicle operation. As the EV charging market evolves, hardware and infrastructure must be interoperable at scale to maximise performance. According to the company, its work with Eaton and several automotive OEMs will enable seamless integration of chargers, infrastructure and vehicles, all managed through the ChargePoint cloud software platform.
Paul Ryan, General Manager of Energy Transition at Eaton, stated:
“Customers rely on Eaton to address their toughest energy challenges. This transformational partnership brings together trusted power distribution and EV charging solutions—making large-scale electrification simpler and more efficient.”
According to the companies, their joint portfolio will cover all charging scenarios, including fleet depots, workplaces, commercial real estate, fuel and convenience sites, multifamily housing, residential use, and public transport infrastructure.
