Amprius Technologies, Inc., a specialist in lithium-ion batteries featuring a silicon anode platform, has announced a contract manufacturing agreement with a leading South Korean battery producer. The strategic partnership is intended to scale up global production and respond to increasing demand for high-performance SiCore® cells.
The South Korean partner brings extensive experience in the production of advanced lithium-ion batteries across various formats and chemistries.
Initial production will focus on a balanced SiCore cell designed for high energy and power output, developed specifically for use in an advanced drone platform.
“This agreement marks a significant milestone in our capital-efficient expansion strategy,” stated Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. He emphasised that the collaboration will strengthen the company’s supply chain and speed up deliveries to international clients.
The new manufacturing site in South Korea will produce SiCore silicon anode cells according to Amprius’ technical specifications, supporting both current and next-generation platforms. These cells are engineered for demanding applications in sectors such as aerospace, defence, and electric mobility.
With the addition of this partnership, Amprius now has 1.8 GWh of contracted production capacity, enabling the company to scale commercialisation of its silicon-based batteries and enhance its global market position.
