In Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, and Belgium, the international Charge Point Operator (CPO) PowerGo is expanding its ultra-fast charging network with strategic new sites.
These developments mark an important step in supporting the growing demand for electric mobility across Europe, offering electric vehicle (EV) drivers high-speed and reliable charging solutions at convenient locations.
All locations provide charging speeds up to 240 to 480 kilowatts (kW).Â
Denmark
In May this year, the company won another tender from the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) to install ten charging points across three highway locations.
Each site will be equipped with chargers up to 480 kW.Â
The chargers are located along different highways in Denmark. Close to Torkilstrup (Rute 21) in the region of Seeland, the CPO will install two charging points. Four charging points will be installed in the North, close to Aalborg (E45). Another four charging points will be installed near Aabenraa, in the south of Jutland, near the border to Germany (E45).Â
These new sites provide a strong connection to two other PowerGo highway locations from the Vejdirektoratet.
At Lillebælt Syd on Funen and Haderup in northern Denmark, chargers with a maximum capacity of 240 to 400 kW are already operational.Â
The Netherlands Â
The company will install a charging hub in the province of North Holland, on the event venue of Gasterij Vuurland.
The site is strategically located along the highway A9 near Knooppunt Beverwijk, one of the key traffic junctions in the Netherlands.
Over the coming years, the hub will be upgraded with a higher-capacity grid connection to enable its growth into a charging hub with logistics EV charging facilities.
Additional charging points for cars and electric trucks will then be added.Â
Belgium
PowerGo has secured a tender for a charging hub along the E40 in Ghent as part of project The Loop, an urban development project located southwest of Ghent.
The hub consists of six charging points, each offering a maximum capacity of 400 kW.
The location is strategically situated between the N43 and the R4.Â
Spain
The CPO will install chargers for SEITT, the Spanish state-owned company for transport infrastructure.
This includes 24 charging points across six key highway locations surrounding Madrid.Â
The chargers, each with a maximum capacity of 400 kW, will be installed at six service areas along three highways: R2, R3, and R5. These highways serve as critical routes for traffic entering and exiting Madrid.Â
Enhancing the charging experienceÂ
Each location is designed with a strong focus on user comfort and accessibility.
At most locations, facilities such as canopies, restrooms, additional space for disabled users, vending machines, and greenery will be provided.
Some locations already consist of service areas, including restrooms, food, drinks, and shops.
Wherever possible, PowerGo will install signage that displays the real-time charging price. Â
Through dynamic pricing, EV drivers benefit from fair and transparent charging prices based on the real-time electricity price.
This encourages charging during times when more renewable energy is available, helping to ease pressure on the electricity grid. Charging is cheaper during these periods.
The free PowerGo Charge app shows the real-time prices. Charging and payment can be done using the app, a bank card, or a charging card.Â
As part of its broader commitment to sustainability, the CPO works with 100 percent solar energy, generated from solar parks operated by its parent company PowerField. Â
Ivo van Dam, CEO of PowerGo, says: “With the expansion of our ultra-fast charging network along European highways, we are taking another important step towards making electric driving even more accessible for everyone. And we are far from done: more new locations will follow soon.”
“Our focus remains on providing the EV driver with a fast, reliable, and sustainable charging experience, wherever they need it.” Â
About PowerGoÂ
The company is active in seven European countries and currently operates more than 1,700 charging points.
The CPO develops public and fleet charging solutions for partners including HelloFresh, Basic-Fit, Jumbo, PLUS, Accor, Radisson Hotel Group, and various governments.
More locations are underway as the CPO continues to expand its presence across Europe.Â
PowerGo is the subsidiary of PowerField, a Dutch organisation specialised in the production, storage, and trade of solar energy.
PowerGo’s charging stations are powered by energy from PowerField’s solar parks. Together, PowerField and PowerGo offer the full solution: production, storage, trade and use of renewable energy.Â
