PowerGo and Europe’s leading hotel owner and operator Essendi (formerly AccorInvest), have entered into a partnership to install charging solutions at multiple hotels in the Netherlands.
This allows guests and visitors to charge their electric vehicle (EV) quickly and conveniently during their stay. The first locations are already operational.
Each hotel will be equipped with at least one 150 kilowatts (kW) ultra-fast charger, complemented by several 22 kW devices.
Thanks to this combination, every guest and visitor can leave with a charged battery.
First charging locations
Various hotels of Essendi in the provinces of North Holland and South Holland will be provided with chargers, including Mercure Amsterdam City, Ibis and Ibis Budget Amsterdam Airport at Schiphol, and Novotel hotels of Amsterdam City and Rotterdam Brainpark.
Mercure Amsterdam City was the first location to go live.
Since May, guests and visitors have been able to charge their EV at six 22 kW charging points.
As soon as the upgraded grid connection is ready, two charging points of 150 kW will be installed.
Since June, guests and visitors at Novotel Amsterdam City can make use of two charging points of 150 kW and six charging points of 22 kW.
The installation of chargers at the other hotels will follow soon.
PowerGo and Essendi are also exploring additional locations for potential expansion.
Greener charging and dynamic prices
Through dynamic pricing, EV drivers benefit from fair and transparent charging prices based on the real-time electricity price.
This encourages charging during times when more renewable energy is available, helping to ease pressure on the electricity grid.
Charging is cheaper during these periods.
Like at the rest of PowerGo’s charging locations, guests and visitors of the hotels can charge with the certainty of green energy.
PowerGo works with solar energy, generated from solar parks operated by its parent company PowerField.
A partnership that reflects environmental commitment
Since summer 2024, Essendi has observed a steady increase in EV charging across its network, confirming both user engagement and the success of the initiative.
Through this partnership with PowerGo, part of its broader ESG strategy, the Group aims to position its hotels as drivers of the environmental transition and territorial development.
By strengthening ties with local economic players and offering services that benefit surrounding communities, Essendi is redefining the role of its hotels within society.
