Pepsi and XPO Logistics join forces to drive one million kilometres with e-trucks

Pepsi has announced that XPO Logistics, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has become its core transport provider across England and Wales.

The partnership with XPO Logistics will operate across PepsiCo’s four main distribution sites in Leicester, Lutterworth, Coventry, and Warrington, supporting the distribution of its popular snacks brands, such as Walkers and Doritos, to customers throughout the United Kingdom (UK).

XPO was selected for its scale, expertise, and shared ambition to deliver a positive impact for customers, the supply chain, and the planet.

As part of the partnership, Mercedes-Benz eActros electric trucks will be introduced into PepsiCo’s UK fleet.

These vehicles will replace over one million kilometres of diesel-powered transport annually, reducing more than 1,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year — a significant milestone in PepsiCo’s journey to achieve net zero by 2050.

XPO Logistics will also provide PepsiCo with its advanced CO₂ reporting dashboard, powered by real-time data and artificial intelligence. This tool will help the company track emissions, plan more effectively, and make better-informed decisions across its logistics network.

Through existing initiatives with Pollock (Scotrans) Ltd., AB Texel, and now XPO Logistics, PepsiCo continues to expand its use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) — a renewable diesel alternative made from used cooking oil and waste fats — across parts of its transport operations. Collectively, these partnerships are powering over 14 million kilometres of journeys annually using HVO and are expected to save more than 16,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

This collaboration is part of PepsiCo’s ongoing efforts to drive positive action for people and the planet through its PepsiCo Positive (pep+) agenda. Launched in 2021, pep+ is the company’s end-to-end sustainability and business strategy, guiding action across agriculture, supply chains, product portfolios, and communities.

Andrew Smethurst, UK Logistics Director at PepsiCo, says:
“XPO Logistics has proven to be the ideal partner to help advance our PepsiCo Positive ambition. From their industry-leading sustainability credentials to a strong safety culture and a transparent operating model, their team has consistently delivered innovation and value. This new partnership will play a vital role in reducing our logistics emissions as we deliver iconic products like Walkers crisps and Doritos to our customers across the UK.”

Dan Myers, Managing Director – UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, states:
“Sustainability is in our DNA. We’re proud to partner with PepsiCo on this journey, combining investment in electric mobility with advanced technology and operational excellence. Our shared ambition goes beyond compliance — it’s about transformation. I believe this is just the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

Heiko Selzam, Managing Director of Daimler Truck UK, comments:
“We are very proud to strengthen our partnership further with XPO Logistics through this order of our award-winning eActros 600s for the PepsiCo partnership. This commitment underscores both companies’ recognition of the critical role these vehicles will play in achieving their sustainability goals. Following extensive collaboration, this order firmly establishes the eActros 600 as a leading solution in the electric truck market. We look forward to seeing these vehicles operational from 1 August.”
