Apple’s Maps app now allows users to locate, select, and pay for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations directly within the platform, following the integration of the CIRRANTIC Charging Wallet service.
The new feature enables a charging process as intuitive as booking a table at a restaurant.
Users can find a charging station in Apple Maps, choose an offer, authorise the charging point and payment method, and begin charging by plugging in the cable.
The Charging Wallet intelligently consolidates all available options at a given location, including ad-hoc charging, subscriptions, and promotional tariffs.
Transparent pricing, real-time monitoring, and automatic billing are included to support a streamlined experience.
The solution supports a wide range of payment methods — from Apple Pay to mobile phone billing — tailored to the platform, offer, and user preferences.
Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) gain increased visibility through one of the most frequently used digital platforms.
They can also offer flexible tariffs and promotions, while benefitting from a consistent usage and payment process that reduces support needs and operational costs.
“The Charging Wallet-Service helps EV Drivers, CPOs, MSPs and Integrators alike making charging an EV as easy as it gets. Looking already forward to the next steps,” says Arne Meusel, Founder at CIRRANTIC GmbH.
“When I first started in e-mobility, we were already dreaming about launching charging sessions right from Maps. Everyone was wondering when this would finally happen. Pretty stoked that we’ve now made this key feature happen in direct collaboration with Apple,” indicates Philip Hermes, Head of Engineering at CIRRANTiC GmbH.
The integration is already live with CITYWATT GmbH, JOLT ENERGY, da emobil, and illwerke vkw in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
“At JOLT, charging is now just a click away from finding the right location. Directly integrated in Apple Maps,” states Dennis Hampe, Senior Consultant Customer Service & Product Management at JOLT ENERGY.
