Electra, european charge point operator (CPO) for electric vehicles (EVs), has announced a partnership with CEV Handelsimmobilien GmbH to deploy approximately 300 rapid charging stations at EDEKA Group supermarkets across Germany.
According to the company, the aim is to integrate EV charging into users’ daily routines by enabling them to charge their cars while shopping.
The rollout will be carried out progressively through to 2028 and will cover a range of EDEKA retail sites, one of Germany’s leading supermarket chains.
Electra stated that this initiative marks a significant step in its expansion strategy within the German market, which is the largest in Europe.
The company expressed appreciation to CEV Handelsimmobilien GmbH for the collaboration and reaffirmed its commitment to developing more efficient and sustainable mobility solutions.
“Our goal remains clear: to make electromobility simpler, more attractive and more digital for everyone,” stated Jonas Kossende, Head of Sales and Business Development Germany.
“For us, it doesn’t stop at the charging station itself. For example, have you heard about our integration with the loyalty programme of our partner Delhaize Belgium? Users can charge their vehicles and earn in-store rewards. That’s what we call real added value,” he added.
Next week, Electra will be present at EXPO REAL in Messe München. The company invites those interested in discussing new locations and projects to get in touch.
“And we’re far from done – we’re looking for more strong partners to help us shape the charging infrastructure of tomorrow,” said Kossende.
