Transdev orders 55 Solaris electric buses for Arnhem-Nijmegen-Foodvalley concession

The fleet includes Solaris’s shortest and longest battery-electric models and will begin operation in mid-2026.

Transdev Nederland has placed a new order with Solaris for the supply of 55 zero-emission battery-electric buses.

The delivery includes both the Urbino 9 LE electric, the shortest model in the Solaris range, and the Urbino 24 electric, the manufacturer’s longest, double-articulated vehicle. Deliveries are scheduled for summer 2026.

Under the contract, Solaris will supply 42 Urbino 9 LE electric buses and 13 Urbino 24 electric units. The new fleet will operate within the Arnhem-Nijmegen-Foodvalley (ANF) concession, awarded to Transdev by the Province of Gelderland. The concession covers services in Arnhem, Nijmegen, and the Foodvalley region.

The Urbino 9 LE electric will serve routes connecting smaller towns and will be equipped with Solaris High Energy batteries exceeding 400 kWh.

The 24-metre-long Urbino 24 electric buses will operate on high-capacity corridors and feature High Energy batteries with more than 500 kWh. All vehicles will be integrated with Solaris’s eSConnect system for fleet monitoring and management.

The Arnhem-Nijmegen-Foodvalley area, located in the province of Gelderland, is a densely populated region where public transport is a key component of daily mobility.

Transdev Nederland is one of the country’s largest public transport operators and a major adopter of zero-emission solutions.

The company has previously collaborated with Solaris on several projects. In 2021, Urbino 12 hydrogen buses were deployed in Gelderland under the EU-supported JIVE2 programme. In South Holland, Transdev operates 20 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, while 10 Trollino 18 trolleybuses with MetroStyle design have been serving routes in Arnhem since 2024.

Earlier this year, Transdev also selected Solaris to deliver 96 electric buses for the province of Utrecht.
