Reports of stolen charging cables at fast-charging stations have increased in recent months in Germany, generating operational challenges and significant costs for charge point operators (CPOs).
In response, Reload Solution GmbH has introduced GRIDZON, a cable protection system originally developed for the company’s own direct current (DC) charging points.
“Our goal was simple: a secure, adaptable solution that doesn’t interfere with metrology regulations or require complex installation,” explains Jonas Radau, Managing Director at Reload Solution.
Key features of GRIDZON include:
- Cut-resistant Dyneema® cable sleeve with warning print
- Integrated tamper detection triggering an automatic alarm
- No modification to the charging station’s calibration-relevant systems
- 117 dB siren and visual flash alert
- Remote monitoring via eSIM with real-time status display
- Silent alarm notifications via SMS, phone call or email
- 3D-printed stainless steel casing with security screw fastening
- Compatible with all cable lengths
- Installation time of approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, with instructions and video provided
The system currently supports Alpitronic HYC150 / 200 and HYC300 / 400 units.
Reload Solution is actively developing compatibility with additional charging station models.
According to the company, the battery life of the system is approximately 12 to 14 months.
One of the first GRIDZON prototypes was installed for long-term testing at Stadtwerke Schwerte, which supported the project during its development phase.
The product is now available for pre-order, with deliveries scheduled to begin in January 2026.
Operators interested in enhanced cable security can contact Reload Solution for further details.
