Atlante is participating for the first time in the Madrid Electric Vehicle Fair with an initiative aimed at expanding the network of fast and ultra-fast charging in the national territory.

Jorge Colom González, Business Development Director of Atlante Iberia, states that administrations have made significant efforts to simplify the procedures for the installation of charging points.

However, he emphasizes to Portal Movilidad España that there is still room for improvement in the process, as many projects get stuck at this stage.

Furthermore, he states: “This affects the development and adoption of electric mobility because the public does not perceive that the network is developing quickly”.

In line with other stakeholders in the sector, Colom González emphasizes that although the infrastructure work may take weeks, the necessary procedures for its operation can extend for months and even years.

“The good news is that we are moving in the right direction, but we need to keep improving,” he adds.

At this point, the director highlights the work of the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE), of which Atlante has been a member since April 2022:

“As a representative industry agent, it is doing significant work with the authorities, bringing visibility to the challenges we face in the sector.”

Atlante is boosting its fast-charging network

Atlante, the Italian-origin company, is advancing to become the largest European network of fast and ultra-fast charging for electric vehicles in Southern Europe.

The CPO belongs to the NHOA group, a global player in energy storage and mobility, specialized in developing technologies that facilitate the transition to cleaner energy and more sustainable mobility.

Currently, the company has more than 3.200 charging points online and under construction in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and France.

Their goal is to install 5.000 fast and ultra-fast charging points in the four countries by 2025 and over 35.000 by 2030.

Supported by NHOA’s technological foundations and thanks to the ambitious electrification plan for Southern Europe with 100% green energy, Atlante has recently secured 50 million euros from the EU, under the CEF 2 Transport-Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Facility (AFIF) financing program.

This funding adds to the 23 million euros already granted in 2022 for a total of 73 million euros.

As a result of this grant, the company has presented the Atlante4All project for the global installation of over 1.800 parking spaces, with more than 1.000 fast chargers at 407 EV stations, of which 95 are in Spain.

“Whenever possible, we try to integrate energy storage and photovoltaic generation into our charging solutions, which makes it possible to address issues related to energy availability while distinguishing our technological vision with a truly 360-degree approach”, he explains.

Recently, Atlante has reached an agreement to install fast charging points at Avanza Food restaurants and expand its network in the northern part of the country.

The company has also acquired 60% of KLC in Portugal and the eMobility business unit of Ressolar in Italy, allowing it to become a major operator.

“Atlante is the preferred network of the Stellantis automotive group and its customers,” says the company.

Furthermore, their stations are fully interoperable.

“It can be accessed through practically any electric mobility application or card, and with any brand and model of electric vehicles”, they add.

Colom González emphasizes: “Our vocation is to reach all corners and create a network not only for personal transportation but also for freight”.

Road transport plays a crucial role nationally, as the majority of goods are transported by trucks or last-mile distribution vehicles.

“A significant effort is being made to expand charging infrastructure to every corner of the country and enable the electrification of heavy transportation”, he says.

Their mission is to expedite the transition to electromobility, giving top priority to the customer.

“We need to be able to convey the right messages in favor of electrification”, he concludes.
