The EDP Group will reaffirm its goal to expand the public charging infrastructure for electric mobility in the Iberian Peninsula during the Global Mobility Call (GMC), in line with its plan to reach 7,000 charging points by 2026.
The energy company is participating as an Itinerary Partner of GMC, organized by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub.
From October 24 to 26, the event will bring together the leading industry leaders and companies working towards the development of sustainable mobility.
During the event, EDP will highlight the commitments of their roadmap, where electrification plays a key role in contributing to the decarbonization of the planet.
EDP’s Electric Mobility in the Iberian Peninsula
The company offers a comprehensive and tailored range of products and services for businesses, which includes having more than 4,600 operational or under-execution public charging points in the Iberian Peninsula.
The goal for 2026 is to reach 7,000 public charging points.
To achieve this development, among other actions, EDP has partnerships in Spain with Decathlon, Ahorramas, Kia, Petroprix, and the national parking group APK2.
In particular, with Pretoprix, it is promoting the largest infrastructure of ultra-fast battery charging for electric vehicles in Spain.
This partnership will begin with the installation of chargers at 44 service stations, with the option to expand to all 135 stations of the Spanish fuel operator’s network and the 35 new openings planned for this year.
In addition, in Portugal, the company has partnerships with McDonald’s and is also accelerating the presence of electric mobility on highways through an association with Brisa, BP, and Repsol.
As a demonstration of its commitment to efficient mobility, the company is actively working to maintain a competitive offer in terms of price.
They are also creating a pre-load voucher system that allows users, in case they don’t have a linked charging point, to find clear savings compared to traditional refueling.
“The commitment made in the Paris Agreement requires a structural change in both our way of life and the way we produce and consume energy,” says Vera Pinto Pereira, the Executive Administrator of the EDP Group.
Also, she adds: “The electrification of mobility and its integration into an increasingly efficient energy ecosystem are essential aspects of this journey.”
