APCOA to operate Manchester hub featuring 102 EV charging points

Manchester’s newly inaugurated Ancoats Mobility Hub will be operated by APCOA and includes 102 electric vehicle chargers among its 400 total parking spaces.

The Ancoats Mobility Hub, now open to the public, will be managed by APCOA and offers 400 parking bays, including 102 equipped with electric vehicle charging points.

The facility also provides 150 bicycle spaces, changing rooms for users, and parcel lockers.

According to the announcement, the hub was constructed with low-carbon principles. It features photovoltaic panels on the roof and living green walls extending across the full height of the eight-storey structure.

The plant species were chosen for their ability to absorb pollution, withstand urban conditions, and bloom throughout the year, the statement notes.

Kim Challis, APCOA’s Regional Managing Director for UK & Ireland, stated:

“We are proud to manage this site in partnership with Manchester City Council. The sustainability credentials of the new Ancoats Hub align closely with our own environmental commitment.”

Bev Craig, Leader of the Council, commented:

“The Ancoats Mobility Hub is vital infrastructure that puts people at the heart of the neighbourhood rather than car traffic. This is a blueprint for creating cleaner, greener communities.”
