Aral Pulse, the electric mobility brand of Aral, and PPG-Nordpark GmbH, a joint venture of the city of Mönchengladbach’s development company and Borussia Mönchengladbach, will equip the PPG-Nordpark parking lot with ultra-fast charging stations.
Located very close to the A61, the company plans to open its first exclusive charging park in Germany, which will feature 14 ultra-fast charging stations, each with a capacity of up to 400 kilowatts.
Each station will offer two points, providing a total of 28 charging bays for electric vehicles.
This facility in Mönchengladbach’s Nordpark will be the largest of its kind operated by Aral pulse in Germany.
The charging park is set to be covered by a photovoltaic system and will include a smart retail offering with a lounge area and free Wi-Fi access.
Completion is scheduled for the summer of 2024.
“The charging park in Mönchengladbach is part of our nationwide expansion strategy. The location, in close proximity to the highway and businesses in Nordpark, is highly attractive,” explained Alexander Junge, Aral Board Member for Electromobility.
“Our ultra-fast charging network has now grown to around 2,000 charging points at approximately 300 locations,” he added.
By 2025, the company aims to install around 5,000, and by 2030, up to 20,000 points.
“We believe that ultra-fast charging is the future. Depending on battery technology, around 300 kilometers of range can be charged in Mönchengladbach within ten minutes,” stated Junge.
Within walking distance to BORUSSIA-PARK, SparkassenPark, and RED BOX, and just three kilometers from the city center, the Nordpark industrial area already provides employment for over 6,000 people and continues to grow successfully.
“E-mobility and sustainability play a significant role for us, and Aral pulse has proven to be an open and committed partner with a forward-looking perspective since the beginning of our joint planning,” says Lars Randerath, Managing Director of PPG-Nordpark GmbH.
“Last summer, we were able to launch 18 standard charging points in partnership with our regional utility, NEW AG. Parking space management for us is always considered in the overall context of new mobility forms and digital service offerings,” said Randerath.
