Atlante partners with Shift4 to provide an in-person card payment solution at its charging stations across Southern Europe.
It’s worth mentioning that both companies have already launched their payment solution in Italy and France, with plans to extend it to Spain and Portugal “in early 2024.”
By streamlining the payment process, the collaboration will make clean mobility more accessible, convenient, and consumer-friendly.
“Partnering with a global player like Shift4 was a strategic decision aligned with Atlante’s vision to revolutionize the electric vehicle (EV) charging payment process into a seamless and efficient experience,” states Francesco Lamberti, CTO of Atlante.
“Shift4’s expertise and cutting-edge technology in the payments ecosystem will enable our customers to charge with a simplified and frictionless transaction process, reinforcing our mission to empower sustainable mobility and drive us towards a cleaner future,” he adds.
The partners estimate that with approximately 7.8 million EVs on European roads as of 2022, “the electric vehicle infrastructure in Europe is lagging behind.”
This is not only due to the lack of infrastructure but also the “complex and inconvenient payment experiences” at public stations.
“Innovation within emerging verticals is in our DNA, and working with a company like Atlante to transform the electric vehicle charging ecosystem aligns perfectly with our future focus,” said Sveta Bulshtein, Vice President of Business Development at Shift4.
“Atlante represents the epitome of cutting-edge sustainable green technology, and together, we are poised to revolutionize how people interact and pay for EV charging across Southern Europe, marking the beginning of a more sustainable and technologically advanced future,” she added.
This project also represents a significant step in Atlante’s plans to establish the largest fast and ultra-fast electric vehicle charging network across Southern Europe, 100% powered by renewable energies and enhanced by on-site energy storage and photovoltaic energy.
