This charger features a modular design for easy maintenance and future upgrades, delivering up to 480 kilowatts.

“The DH480 is our next-generation all-in-one charger, designed for motorway installations and other fast-charging scenarios,” explains Andreas Lastei, Vice President of Sales Marketing at Autel Energy Europe, in an interview with Mobility Portal Europe.

“It’s one of the biggest innovations we’re introducing within our portfolio,” he adds.

With this product, the company aims to achieve high reliability with an uptime exceeding 99% and high first-time charging success rates.

This “MaxiCharger” includes two HMI screens, payment terminals, enhanced cable management, and up to four outputs to optimise the customer experience across various use cases.

During the interview, Lastei also highlights another product attracting significant attention in the sector: the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solution.

“It’s already available, and we’ve received the first orders,” notes Lastei.

He continues: “We will ship the first units in the first quarter of 2025 and support customers during installation and deployment phases.”

This charger offers a charging capacity of 1.2 MW, making it ideal for commercial trucks and high-capacity vehicles.

Its satellite design and modular cabinets enable easy installation and flexible use, setting new benchmarks for fast and high-power charging.

“There’s significant interest in truck charging. Many charge point operators (CPOs) are investing in this area,” says Lastei.

However, he points out that implementation is progressing more slowly due to factors such as grid capacity and the availability of installers.

It’s worth mentioning that this solution is critical for meeting the strict European regulations that will drive demand for electric trucks and other heavy vehicles across the continent.

It is also well-suited to comply with the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which requires adapting the electrical grid to meet energy demands associated with the energy transition.

Why do CPOs choose Autel Energy?

Autel’s primary clients include major CPOs, utility companies, and oil and gas corporations.

The reason these companies choose Autel Energy lies in two key factors.

Firstly, the company offers a comprehensive range of products, from home charging to public AC charging and DC fast charging, including truck charging solutions.

Secondly, the cost of the chargers is a significant factor.

We deliver quality at a fair and affordable price,” emphasises Lastei.

Challenges in exporting chargers: Autel’s perspective

The company markets its chargers across Europe, Turkey, and the Middle East, with manufacturing facilities in China, Vietnam, and the United States.

This setup presents challenges.

“Firstly, we face the complexity of the supply chain, as it involves transportation and sourcing. We avoid air transport as much as possible and prioritise more sustainable options, such as rail or sea,” explains Lastei.

He adds: “Additionally, import taxes are a factor to consider, especially with ongoing changes in the automotive industry, which could impact us.”
