The world’s largest battery manufacturer, CATL, has launched its new Shenxing Pro battery, offering both long range and fast-charging capabilities.
The new Shenxing Pro battery was unveiled at the Munich Motor Show, where the Chinese firm once again showcased its strength and serious commitment to expanding into Europe.
The company introduced a version dubbed ‘Shenxing Pro with ultra-long range and lifespan’, which, with a capacity of 122 kWh, enables up to 750 km of range under WLTP standards.
CATL claims this version will last for 12 years or one million kilometres, representing a radical shift in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Moreover, CATL states that after the first 200,000 km, battery degradation will be just 9%. It will even retain 70% of its capacity after one million kilometres or 10,000 charge and discharge cycles—six times more than what most current manufacturers guarantee (typically 160,000 km). Additionally, charging from 10% to 80% will take only 15 minutes.
CATL has also unveiled its ‘Shenxing Pro Ultra-Fast Charging Battery’, capable of delivering a range of up to 478 km (roughly the distance from Madrid to Santander) in just ten minutes—almost equivalent to a conventional refuelling stop. This positions it as Europe’s leading ultra-fast-charging LFP battery.
With 830 kW of power and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds—even at a 20% state of charge (SOC)—the battery delivers exceptional performance and long-lasting reliability under various conditions. It also performs well in extreme cold, offering a 410 km range after just 20 minutes at -20°C. For this version, CATL offers a warranty of up to 10 years or 240,000 km.
“Shenxing Pro perfectly combines top-level safety standards with mobility demands, offering a safer, more efficient, and worry-free experience for every journey. With unmatched range, charging speed, and durability, Shenxing Pro is the ultimate solution for electric mobility in Europe,” says Zhu Lingbo, CTO of CATL’s International Business Unit.
CATL plans to invest over 11 billion euros in its European operations in the coming years, including battery manufacturing plants in Spain (in partnership with Stellantis), Hungary, and Germany.
The Asia-based company aims to become “a reliable partner for the European automotive industry” and, under its motto “Europe, for Europe”, it seeks to promote the electric mobility sector through battery production, remanufacturing, and recycling, to accelerate the transition to EVs.
