Organised by the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE), with the support of Fundación Ibercaja, CEVE 2025 is the Iberian Peninsula’s foremost forum for electromobility.
As every year, it brings together key players from across the ecosystem, including manufacturers, charge point operators (CPOs), energy suppliers, engineering firms, service companies, and other industry stakeholders.
The event officially opens this morning at 9:30am at the Pabellón Puente, with the participation of Javier Martínez Suárez, Director General of Economic Policy for the Government of Aragón; Natalia Chueca, Mayor of Zaragoza; José Luis Rodrigo, Director of Fundación Ibercaja; and Jaime Armengol, Coordinator of Mobility City.
AEDIVE has chosen Aragón to host the 2025 edition of CEVE as the region has become a national benchmark in industrial, technological and energy transition for electric mobility. This is reflected in several high-impact projects currently underway:
The first is the construction of a major battery gigafactory in Figueruelas, near Zaragoza, led by CATL and Stellantis. Set to be Spain’s largest facility of its kind, it involves an investment of €4.1 billion, with a planned capacity of 50 GWh and production expected to begin by late 2026. Around 3,000 jobs are expected to be created.
Secondly, the Chinese carmaker Dongfeng plans to make Aragón its operational hub in Southern Europe. It has announced a €10 million investment in Zaragoza to support the launch of its electric vehicles in Europe.
In addition, Stellantis, in partnership with Leapmotor, is strengthening its commitment to electrification. It will manufacture two of Leapmotor’s electric vehicle models at its Figueruelas plant from late 2026.
Finally, Aragón is emerging as a magnet for the data centre industry, with ongoing and upcoming projects from global giants like Amazon and Microsoft. These data centres are closely tied to electric mobility due to their demands for digital infrastructure.
Arturo Pérez de Lucia, General Director of AEDIVE, highlighted Aragón’s growing prominence, stating: “The region has made a clear commitment to industrial and technological projects related to electromobility, supported by the regional government. This positions Aragón as a national leader in electric mobility.”
CEVE full programme of debates and roundtables
Beyond being a high-level networking forum and platform for knowledge exchange, CEVE 2025 features a comprehensive agenda of roundtable discussions and expert panels.
Today’s sessions focus on topics such as:
- The future of heavy electric transport
- The deployment of high-power charging infrastructure
- Innovations in battery and energy storage technologies
Further discussions will explore AC charging, the role of municipal governments and the tertiary sector, Spain’s industrial and technological investment in electric vehicles, and the user-centred approach to mobility — including perspectives from dealerships, repair shops, property managers, and insurance companies.
Tomorrow’s sessions: standards, financing, and business opportunities
On 22 October, panels will address:
- The implementation of ISO 15118/20 standards
- Smart charging and Plug & Charge technology
- Public grants and financing mechanisms such as CAEs and eCredits
- Tax incentives to accelerate the transition
- Business opportunities in EU-level mobility projects
Technical visits
As a highlight of each day, CEVE 2025 will offer two high-profile technical visits, providing first-hand insights into real-world electrification projects in passenger and freight transport — essential components for the decarbonisation of the economy.
- Today, 21 October (afternoon): Attendees will visit Avanza’s depot, operator of Zaragoza’s urban bus network, to see the new electric bus chargers in action and tour the Centralised Control Centre (PCC), which monitors real-time fleet data, including battery charge and temperature.
- Tomorrow, 22 October (14:30): The visit will head to the Milence Charging Hub at Zaragoza’s Logistics Platform, where participants will witness live demonstrations of heavy-duty electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the latest innovations in this area.
