CHANGAN Automobile, a leader in low‑carbon intelligent vehicle technology, announced the advancement of its ‘In Thailand, For Thailand’ strategy – unveiling a comprehensive business roadmap that builds on strong market success while reinforcing long-term commitment to Thailand’s economic development and automotive industry transformation.
Additionally, the event also showcases the latest innovation— DEEPAL NEW S07 and DEEPAL HUNTER K50 REEV Max AWD—expanding its advanced product portfolio to serve Thai consumers’ evolving needs while also highlighting the ambition to lead the premium EV segment in Southeast Asia through innovation, intelligent design, and elevated user experience.
Notably, the company is preparing to export the first batch of over 1,000 DEEPAL S05 units—manufactured in Thailand—to Europe by the end of this year.
This initiative not only generates national revenue and attracts foreign investment but also reflects CHANGAN’s mission to position Thailand as a regional hub for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.
Shen Xinghua, Managing Director at CHANGAN Auto Southeast Asia and CHANGAN Auto Sales (Thailand), says: “We have achieved strong business momentum and, more importantly, have become an integral part of Thailand’s automotive ecosystem – creating jobs, transferring technology, and contributing to economic development.”
He continues: “Over the past two years, CHANGAN has operated business in Thailand under its ‘In Thailand, For Thailand’ strategy, with a steadfast commitment to advancing the Thai automotive industry while driving the nation’s economic growth.”
The company has invested over ten billion baht to establish its first manufacturing facility outside China, located in Rayong.
This regional production hub serves Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, and has generated more than 20,000 jobs across the entire supply chain.
“Over 90% of CHANGAN’s workforce in Thailand are Thai nationals. CHANGAN sources over 60% of its components and parts locally, with plans to increase this figure to 80% by 2030,” he indicates.
CHANGAN’s strategy
Over the next five years (by 2030), CHANGAN will advance a comprehensive strategy encompassing following key pillars:
- Product Innovation: CHANGAN is committed to supporting Thailand’s transition from an internal combustion engine (ICE)-based society to a new energy vehicle (NEV) lifestyle. The company aims to build a robust local ecosystem encompassing research and development, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing. By 2030, CHANGAN aspires to become one of the top three best-selling car companies in Thailand.
- Thai Workforce Development: In collaboration with government agencies such as the Automotive Human Resource Development Association (AHRDA), CHANGAN will continue to invest in upskilling Thai technicians in EV maintenance and service—ensuring a highly capable workforce to support the growth of the modern automotive industry.
- Nationwide Network Expansion: The company plans to expand its dealership network to 200 locations, covering every province and major city across Thailand, ensuring accessibility and convenience for customers nationwide.
- Excellence in After-Sales Service: CHANGAN is building a comprehensive nationwide service network and optimizing its parts supply system to ensure rapid and reliable customer support—with a goal of delivering service within just one hour.
