On Friday, September 13, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that the Asian giant is disappointed with the European Commission for ignoring the industry’s efforts to find solutions.
“The European Commission has disregarded the sincerity and efforts of the Chinese industry and presented a flexible solution proposal that aims to exclude the Chinese industry without in-depth communication, which is deeply disappointing,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce.
These statements followed the bloc’s rejection of electric vehicle manufacturers’ offers for minimum import prices.
The European Commission said it had received offers from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers to establish minimum import prices in Europe as a way to avoid high tariffs, but these offers had been rejected.
