Deutschlandnetz Project Charging Park in Landau

Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, inaugurates a new charging location in Landau in der Pfalz alongside Pfalzwerke AG as part of the Deutschlandnetz project.

The site offers convenient and accessible charging for electric vehicles (EVs), featuring four high-power charging stations and eight charging points located near the B10 motorway.

Dr Volker Wissing states: “We are investing in the charging parks of the future. I am particularly pleased that Pfalzwerke is inaugurating one of its first charging locations today in my hometown of Landau. This modern and reliable charging infrastructure is a tangible benefit for the region’s people.”

“I am convinced that the Deutschlandnetz will make the switch to electromobility even more attractive. With approximately 9,000 ultra-fast charging points, the Deutschlandnetz will eliminate the last white spots on the charging map,” he adds.

The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) is establishing 9,000 additional high-power charging points at over 1,000 locations across rural areas, cities, and unmanaged motorway rest areas.

With an investment of approximately 2.3 billion euros, it is the BMDV’s largest funding initiative for charging infrastructure.

The goal is to provide a nationwide, user-friendly network with CCS connectors and charging capacities of at least 200 kilowatts.

Pfalzwerke’s Role in the Deutschlandnetz

As an operator, Pfalzwerke will contribute around 400 new charging points across 40 locations.

Currently, two Deutschlandnetz sites by Pfalzwerke are operational in Schotten (Hesse) and Landau (Rhineland-Palatinate), with three more under construction in Buchen, Baesweiler, and Göppingen.

Construction at eight additional sites is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025.

Paul Anfang, Board Member of Pfalzwerke AG, comments: “Since 2016, we have been investing in the development of EV charging infrastructure in public spaces, taking a pioneering role among mid-sized companies. We are proud to be part of the Deutschlandnetz expansion and to contribute to the nationwide availability of charging options.”

NOW GmbH’s Coordination Role

The National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, operating under NOW GmbH, coordinates the implementation of the Deutschlandnetz on behalf of the BMDV.

It oversees needs assessments, technical requirements, and site data monitoring.

Dagmar Fehler, CEO of NOW GmbH, remarks: “New Deutschlandnetz locations are opening just days apart, showcasing rapid progress. The charging park inaugurated by Pfalzwerke in Landau today is a win for the environment, the economy, and the local community.”
