E.ON and Fleggaard Expand Charging Infrastructure at the German-Danish Border

E.ON and the Danish Fleggaard Group are installing charging stations at four branches of the cross-border retail chain in northern Germany, contributing to the expansion of public infrastructure along the German-Danish border.

At a total of 36 new charging points, customers can conveniently charge their electric vehicles while shopping at Fleggaard or Calle stores.

Local residents, tourists, and commuters travelling between Germany and Denmark can also take advantage of these facilities.

“There is a clear rise in the number of customers arriving in electric vehicles. We want to stay ahead and are therefore very pleased with the partnership with E.ON Drive Infrastructure,” says Jonas Johannsen, CFO of Fleggaard Detail.

“We are confident that not only regular Fleggaard customers will benefit from the new charging parks, but also EV drivers who wish to use the charging time to enjoy a good cup of coffee or a meal,” states Arjan van der Eijk, COO of E.ON Drive Infrastructure.

E.ON Charging Park with 20 Points to Be Built Near Flensburg

At the Fleggaard border shop in Harrislee near Flensburg, E.ON Drive Infrastructure is constructing a charging park with 20 devices.

The site will feature 16 stations with a capacity of up to 150 kilowatts each and four offering up to 400 kilowatts.

All chargers will deliver 100% renewable electricity.

With extra-wide parking spaces and protective measures, the stations can accommodate electric cars, trucks, buses, and vehicles towing caravans.

In addition to Harrislee, other locations being electrified by Fleggaard and E.ON include Süderlügum (six charging points), Calle Krusau (four charging points), and Fleggaard Krusau (six charging points).

The stations in Süderlügum are already operational.

Charging sessions can be easily initiated and paid for via apps such as the E.ON Drive Comfort App.

Alternatively, ad hoc use is possible through a payment website or credit card.

55% of EV Drivers Want Charging While Shopping

According to an E.ON survey, more than 55% of EV drivers expect supermarkets to offer charging stations.

This so-called “destination charging“—charging at the place of activity—is an integral part of a practical and user-friendly charging mix for EV drivers.

By expanding charging infrastructure at Fleggaard stores, the Danish company and E.ON are supporting the transition to sustainable mobility and advancing Europe’s shift towards greener transportation.
