Yesterday, Mobility Portal Group convened prominent leaders from the electric mobility sector as part of the event “Summit of Leaders in Electric Mobility in the USA, Spain and Europe.”

Throughout the day, two panels and two exclusive interviews took place with professionals and enthusiasts from the industry, who engaged in discussions regarding the latest trends and challenges facing the market.

The primary focus was on the deployment of charging infrastructure, as well as the challenges and achievements of eMobility.

Announcements, projects, new technologies, and discussions about the future were the key themes that guided this event.

Below is a summary of the most notable statements from each speaker:

Erika Myers, Executive Director of CharIN North America:

“The majority of vehicle sales in the United States (US) up to this point have been light-duty, although we are starting to see that trend shift slightly as more medium-duty vehicles become available.”

Dieter Debels, Founder & Chief Strategy Officer at RetailSonar:

“The most challenging aspect for us is activating local charging point operators (CPOs) in countries where we lack direct sales channels, such as Spain and Portugal. We are currently seeking solutions, either through direct sales or by collaborating with strong local partners”.

Sebastian Etchevest, Chief Executive Officer at EV Jungle:

“We are pushing forward into different countries: Latin America is our first step, followed by Canada, Mexico, and the US. Then, the rest of the world. Although Europe is not yet a target, we believe Southern Europe will be our next goal.

Jeroen Jonker, Business Consultant eMobility:

“In the long term, it’s not about subsidising the purchase of electric vehicles, but rather that governments could probably do more to support CPOs in rolling out the necessary infrastructure.”

Raphael Atayi, EV Charging Cellular Connectivity Director at Semtech:

Semtech has prioritised two key aspects: mission-critical applications and top-level security in cellular connectivity. Without these, a reliable infrastructure is impossible.”

Andrés Barentin, CEO of Dhemax:

“Our platform is an effective and cost-efficient charging management system, which is already operational at the charging depot in Valparaíso, Chile, and we are planning a project in Spain, while also making progress in Mexico and the US.

Scott Rose, Head of Sales at Clenergy EV:

“The government needs to be clearer about how it promotes electric mobility, as one of the main challenges in the UK is consumer confidence.

Arturo Pérez de Lucía González, General Manager at the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of the Electric Vehicle (AEDIVE)

“Spain is a B2C market, unlike Portugal, which is B2B, so we need to make people understand that there is no reason to fear electric mobility, and this is one of our main objectives for the coming months.”

Félix Pérez-Fajardo, Commercial Manager of Global Mobility Call (GMC)

“The unique aspect of the GMC is that it brings together all stakeholders from the mobility ecosystem in a single event. In this edition, we expect to welcome over 10,000 professional visitors and at least another 15,000 online.”
