The transition to electric mobility in Portugal is in full swing, and the latest public tenders reflect the country’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
The cumulative vehicle registrations of electric vehicles in the country for the year demonstrate an 11.7 per cent rise compared to the corresponding period last year, amounting to a total of 15,394 units registered.
Considering sales of electrified vehicles, including electric, plug-in hybrids, and hybrid electric cars, 42,892 units were sold, reflecting a 14.8 per cent increase from 2023.
Regarding charging infrastructure, according to the European Alternative Fuels Observatory, the country has over 9,000 chargers installed throughout its territory.
In this context, various entities have launched tenders in the electric mobility sector to further promote the transition.
Below, Mobility Portal Europe compiles public tenders aimed at driving this change in the country.
Tenders for charging infrastructure
In Aveiro, the company BUSWAY – CIRAVEIRO, SA has issued an international public tender for the supply, installation, and commissioning of three dual chargers for electric buses.
Each one is required to have a power output of 180 kilowatts (kW).
The base value of this tender is 350,000 euros, and the deadline for proposal submissions is July 11, 2024.
The contract duration is 395 days.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Terras de Bouro, in Braga, offers a 10-year concession for private use of public space to install and operate electric vehicle charging points.
This includes necessary construction works for implementing the infrastructure and maintaining the equipment.
Applications must be submitted by July 17, 2024.
Further south, in Ourém, a similar concession has been opened for the installation of 12 charging stations, also at public access locations.
The contract execution period is eight years, with bids due by July 23, 2024.
Additionally, the Municipality of Almada, in Setúbal, has issued a tender for the lease of private use of public space to install 82 refuelling stations.
This contract spans ten years, with a proposal submission deadline of August 6, 2024.
Tenders for electric buses
Municípia, Empresa de Cartografia e Sistemas de Informação, S.A., based in Oeiras, has launched a public tender for the acquisition of electric buses, allowing bidders to submit proposals for up to three lots.
This comes with a total budget of 1,280,000 euros excluding Value Added Tax (VAT).
The deadline for submissions is July 29, 2024, with a contract execution period of 12 months.
Tenders for electric vehicles
The Instituto Nacional para a Reabilitação, IP, in Lisbon, has opened a concession for the acquisition of rent-a-car services for electric vehicles, sedan type, category M1.
The base value for this is 18,120 euros excluding VAT, with an implementation period of 12 months.
Offers must be submitted by July 1, 2024.
In Leiria, the Municipal Water and Sanitation Services have issued a tender for the “acquisition of new vehicles with vehicle recovery of the same category”.
This includes the supply of electric passenger cars and light goods automobiles with zero emissions.
The base value for this is 474,000 euros excluding VAT, and the contract execution period is three months.
Proposals will be received until July 3, 2024.
Finally, the Entidade de Serviços Partilhados da Administração Pública, IP, in Amadora, has launched a public tender for the allocation of 33 light vehicles under operational leasing.
The base value for this bid is 1,144,246.08 euros excluding VAT, with an implementation period of 48 months.
Offers must be submitted by July 16, 2024.
