EnBW and Alpitronic strengthen long-term partnership to scale high-power charging across Germany

The agreement covers fast-charging hardware, joint development of future functionalities and a multi-year maintenance framework to support EnBW’s expanding HPC network.

EnBW and Alpitronic have reinforced their long-standing collaboration to further expand Germany’s fast-charging infrastructure, deepening a partnership that combines high-power charging technology, software development and long-term service integration.

The new agreement goes beyond the supply of Alpitronic’s DC fast chargers and includes a development partnership focused on future functionalities, as well as a comprehensive maintenance contract with a term of up to five years. The aim is to support the continued rollout of a reliable, future-proof and nationwide high-power charging network.

“Our customers expect charging to be reliable and powerful at all times. That’s exactly what we deliver through our expertise and Alpitronic’s state-of-the-art fast-charging systems,” said Volker Rimpler, Chief Technology Officer E-Mobility at EnBW.

“For smooth operation, hardware, operating systems and an efficient maintenance strategy are equally critical. This cooperation provides security for further network expansion in a highly dynamic market.”

Philipp Senoner, CEO and founder of Alpitronic, highlighted the integrated approach behind the partnership:

“Fast charging only reaches its full potential when hardware, software and service work seamlessly together. With EnBW, we share the goal of making charging simple and reliable for EV drivers. This shared understanding has shaped our collaboration since our first DC charger more than seven years ago and will continue to do so.”

A stable service framework for a growing network

A newly concluded maintenance agreement places the cooperation between EnBW’s and Alpitronic’s field service teams on a solid contractual footing, ensuring continuous operation as the charging network scales up.

Both partners aim to further improve reliability and user experience across EnBW’s fast-charging sites.

EnBW currently operates Germany’s largest fast-charging network, with more than 8,000 HPC charging points offering up to 400 kW, located along highways, in urban areas and at retail sites. The majority of these installations are equipped with Alpitronic chargers.

“We made significant upfront investments to build a nationwide network within just a few years,” Rimpler added.
“Now the focus is on demand-driven expansion and upgrading existing locations with additional chargers and the latest technology to meet both customer expectations and the growing number of electric vehicles on German roads.”

Driving fast charging in Germany and Europe

Alpitronic charging systems have been part of the EnBW HyperNetz since 2018 and are known for their high reliability and performance, placing them among the highest power classes currently available on the market.

Through this extended partnership, EnBW and Alpitronic aim to further advance fast-charging infrastructure in Germany and across Europe, reinforcing EnBW’s position as a leading e-mobility provider and supporting the development of a scalable, future-ready charging ecosystem. The agreement is designed as a multi-year partnership with an option for extension.
