Ford announced on Friday a series of leadership changes, including the appointment of Jim Baumbick as President of the company in Europe, effective from 1st November.

In this role, Baumbick – who most recently served as Vice President of Advanced Product Development, Cycle Planning and Programmes – will lead the strategic direction of Ford’s European business unit to drive greater alignment with key regional stakeholders, develop products relevant to European customers, and accelerate more efficient execution.

Baumbick will report to Ford Vice President, John Lawler. He has held various positions at Ford, including Global Director of Product Development.

Following this change, Sam Basile will succeed Baumbick as Vice President of Advanced Product Development, Cycle Planning and Programmes. Basile was previously Vice President of Global Product Programmes at General Motors. He will join Ford on 13th October and report to Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra.

Elsewhere, Bryce Currie, currently Vice President of Manufacturing for the Americas, will take on an expanded role as Vice President of Manufacturing, with global responsibility for manufacturing and safety.

Additionally, Andrew Frick, currently President of Ford Blue and Model e, will assume additional responsibilities for Lincoln Motor Company.

As a result, the company’s global retail business units for petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles – including Lincoln – will now fall under a single leader. Joaquín Nuño-Whelan will continue as President of Lincoln, reporting to Frick.

Ford also announced the retirement of Chuck Gray, Vice President of Vehicle Hardware Engineering, and Darren Palmer, Vice President of Electric Vehicle Programmes – two key leaders in product development and engineering.

Charles Poon, currently Director of Electrified Propulsion Engineering, will succeed Gray as Vice President of Vehicle Hardware Engineering from 1st November, reporting to Galhotra.
