As car owners across the United Kindom (UK) weigh-up whether to buy an electric vehicle (EV), the company launches unique-to-market Ford Power Promise for its new EV buyers, making it easy for drivers to make the switch.
Ford Power Promise gives drivers peace of mind when switching to new electric vehicle technology, making it easy to charge at home, and save time and money.
Results from a recent Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across Europe found that 25 percent of customers feel more uncertainty and complexity when buying an electric car; one out of every eight people find it too difficult to arrange charging at home; one third of respondents believe that electric vehicles take too long to charge; and over 30 percent of people are concerned about overall battery life.

Lisa Brankin, Chair and Managing Director, Ford UK, says: “Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford have decided to simplify and de- stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric car buyers.”
Building on the company’s existing partnership with Octopus Energy – the UK’s largest energy supplier – Ford Power Promise customers will also benefit from ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ smart energy tariff, which charges your electric vehicle for just 7p/kWh overnight, saving up to 70 percent of energy costs compared to price cap rates.
This energy tariff can automatically optimise charging to make use of cheaper off-peak electricity, and lower energy prices when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining.
This means fully charging the new Puma Gen-E can cost as little as 3.23 pounds.
Alex Schoch, Director of Flexibility, Octopus Energy, states_ “With every electric car that takes the road, we’re getting closer to zero emissions transport – but to reach the finish line, we need to make green driving cheap and accessible.”
“Working together with Ford, we’re able to create a compelling incentive for drivers to make the switch to electric, saving their pocket and the planet at the same time.”
Ford’s offer is applicable across all of Ford’s electric passenger vehicle line up including the all- electric Explorer, all-electric Capri, all-electric Puma Gen-E, all-electric Mustang Mach-E, all- electric E-Tourneo Custom and all-electric E-Tourneo Courier.
A 500 pounds cash alternative to the offer of free home charger, standard installation and Home Energy Bonus is available.
Ford Pro continues to offer it’s ten pounds home charger offer for commercial vehicle customers that includes a home charge point, standard installation, a five-year hardware warranty and 12 months’ complimentary access to Ford Pro home charging software.
The offer is available with the E-Transit Custom 9 and the E-Transit.
