GOFAST opens its largest charging hub in the Romandy region

GOFAST AG, a company specialising in rapid charging for electric vehicles, has commissioned the facility with 12 charging points this week. It is currently the largest charging hub of the Swiss rapid charging specialist in the Romandy region.

At the Champs Fleuris shopping centre in Matran, the Swiss rapid charging network operator GOFAST has opened its largest charging hub in the Romandy region to date.

The 12 HPC charging points on the A12 serve as an ideal charging stop for both travellers passing through and electric vehicle drivers in the greater Freiburg area.

The installed charging stations have capacities of up to 300 kilowatts, allowing for the recharging of an additional 200 kilometres in just ten minutes, depending on the vehicle type.

Payment is straightforward via credit card or using charging cards or apps from common e-mobility service providers.

When paying by credit card, the new location currently offers an attractive price of CHF 0.49 per kilowatt-hour.

At GOFAST, only Swiss green electricity is used, which is partially produced by the large solar roof covering the facility.

For travellers and electric vehicle drivers without home charging options, the facility in Matran is currently the only major rapid charging hub between Bern and Bulle, closing a critical gap in the charging infrastructure for both travellers and local electric vehicle drivers in the city and surrounding areas of Freiburg.

In urban areas, where there is a high proportion of existing rental properties, equipping all residential and commercial buildings with AC charging solutions is challenging both technically and financially.

For GOFAST CEO Domenic Lanz, it is therefore clear that powerful rapid charging hubs in the vicinity of shopping centres represent an attractive alternative for electric vehicle drivers without home charging options.

“In an ideal location, the approximately 30-minute charging stop can also be perfectly combined with a shopping trip or a meal break,” explains Lanz.

The ability to charge electric vehicles is also the reason why the owner of the Champs Fleuris shopping centre decided to partner with GOFAST.

Patrick Goydke, CEO of Gold Tree Asset Management AG, firmly believes that electromobility will continue to grow over the next ten years and that their customers will therefore need to be offered a corresponding service.

“We are convinced that the rapid charging hub will not only meet the existing customer needs but also generate new customer traffic,” says Goydke.

Additionally, from the outset, they sought a powerful solution and found in GOFAST a partner that impressed both with its expertise and its investment capacity.

Ten new locations in Romandy

GOFAST AG, based in Schlieren, operates the densest rapid charging network in Switzerland, with around 90 locations.

The construction of these locations is carried out in cooperation with private or public landowners, including nationwide players such as ALDI SUISSE or McDonald’s Switzerland.

The number of locations in Romandy, currently standing at 12, is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.

By 2025 alone, GOFAST plans to add ten additional locations in Western Switzerland, both along motorways and in the vicinity of restaurants and retail outlets.

The public charging infrastructure is therefore well on its way to supporting the further expansion of electromobility.
