In a charging infrastructure market evolving at different speeds across regions, i-charging enters with a clear objective: to showcase its direct current (DC) chargers directly to the key players driving investment.
“Our main clients are CPOs, utilities, and fleets,” explains Ricardo Rocha, Sales Manager at the company, to Mobility Portal.
Unlike other manufacturers who open subsidiaries in multiple markets, i-charging has chosen an expansion model based on local partners.
These partners may or may not have exclusivity, but they always act as brand representatives, taking care of installation, commissioning, maintenance, and after-sales service.
“We operate worldwide using this model, and the only exception is the United States, where we have our own subsidiary, i-charging USA,” Rocha points out.
This strategy allows the offering to be tailored to the regulatory, economic, and operational specificities of each country without duplicating internal structures.

Solutions for every scenario
i-charging’s catalogue spans from compact units for urban centres — where space and aesthetics matter as much as power — to distributed solutions for motorways capable of delivering ultra-fast charging.
Clients already onboard with i-charging in the eMobility market include Shell Recharge, PoGo Charge, and Viva Energy Hub hydrogen refuelling station, among others.
In the heavy-duty segment, the company provides chargers adaptable to on-route operations, depots, or destination-based charging.
“For road operations, high power is essential; at depots, you can work with lower power and smart management,” Rocha explains at Power2Drive.
i-charging awaits the MCS standard
One of i-charging’s most strategic moves is its advanced development of a Megawatt Charging System (MCS), designed to meet the needs of electric trucks and long-distance buses.
“The product is already ready, but we are waiting for the final definition of the standards, expected early next year,” says Rocha.
He adds: “What exists in the market today are extended versions of CCS, not true MCS systems.”
Adoption of this standard will enable a system capable of drastically reducing charging times for heavy transport — a key requirement for the operational viability of the sector.
For the general public, the user interface is a decisive factor. That’s why the brand incorporates 32-inch screens with an intuitive UI to simplify the charging experience.
In the heavy-duty context, the focus shifts to mechanical robustness and sustained high power, without losing sight of everyday ergonomic use.
With a presence in over 40 countries, i-charging has achieved global reach while maintaining local adaptability.
This balance allows the company to move quickly in fast-growing markets and fine-tune its approach in regions where development is more gradual.
At Power2Drive, the company didn’t just showcase hardware; it also demonstrated that in a sector where technology and regulation evolve in tandem, having an agile business model focused on the real needs of CPOs, utilities and fleets can make the difference between leading or falling behind.
A common architecture for Europe and the US
The product maintains a unified development base for both markets, with only minor adjustments to meet specific technical and regulatory requirements.
“We decided from the beginning that the charger structure would be the same. That gives us consistency and efficiency,” the executive stresses.
This design philosophy simplifies manufacturing and ensures a consistent user experience across regions, even where compliance demands slight variations.
