TotalEnergies and Banque des Territoires join forces to launch an investment platform to support the rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in France.
Jointly owned by TotalEnergies (51%) and Banque des Territoires (49%), the platform will assist municipalities and local authorities in their projects by:
- Continuing the development of charging concessions already under construction or operated by TotalEnergies in several major French cities;
- Responding to local needs by launching new charging concession projects aimed at strengthening territorial coverage.
As a major player in e-mobility in France, TotalEnergies will contribute its expertise to the growth of the investment platform, with the aim of developing, operating, and maintaining a network of public charging infrastructure powered by electricity that is guaranteed to be 100% from renewable sources.
To date, the Company operates nearly 30,000 charging points across the country, including around 4,500 within public concessions located in metropolitan and peri-urban areas, contributing to a coherent and accessible nationwide charging network.
Banque des Territoires has also supported the deployment of electric mobility across France for several years. Active in the sector since 2022, it has already committed over 500 million euros in equity and quasi-equity funding to this area.
The platform will draw on its expertise in financing public projects. This initiative is fully aligned with Banque des Territoires’ strategic plan, which aims to accelerate the ecological transformation of local authorities and the shift towards low-carbon mobility across all territories.
“We are delighted to partner with Banque des Territoires to strengthen the territorial charging network and diversify the locations of EV charging infrastructure. Already a major player in electric mobility in France, TotalEnergies aims, through this partnership, to support local authorities in deploying accessible and high-performance charging solutions for their users,” says Mathieu Soulas, Senior Vice President New Mobilities at TotalEnergies.
“Together with TotalEnergies, we are making low-carbon mobility—a powerful lever for social cohesion and ecological transformation—accessible to as many people as possible, in all regions,” states François Wohrer, Director of Investment at Banque des Territoires.
