Wallbox and Hera Comm – a subsidiary of the Hera Group, Italy’s third-largest energy supplier – have announced a partnership aimed at strengthening electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across Central and Northern Italy.
The project will see the deployment of 58 Supernova DC fast chargers in key locations across the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini.
The rollout is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and is supported by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The objective is to improve the availability of high-speed public charging in both urban centres and underserved regional routes, thereby facilitating wider EV adoption.
According to the companies, the installation of these chargers will contribute to building a more robust and accessible charging network.
Hera Comm plans to expand its Hera Ricarica network, which already comprises more than 320 public charging points.
The goal is for at least 25 per cent of its infrastructure to support fast charging, powered entirely by renewable energy.
Each location will be equipped with Wallbox’s Supernova 120 – a modular DC charger designed for public environments.
The unit includes a six-power-block configuration to ensure continued operation in the event of maintenance, as well as remote diagnostics and real-time telemetry via the Cosmos platform.
The Supernova 120 features dual CCS connectors, a ten-inch sunlight-readable touchscreen, and supports both RFID and card payments.
It is compact, low-noise, and fully OCPP-compatible, making it suitable for integration in both new and existing charging networks.
This initiative forms part of broader efforts to accelerate Italy’s energy transition through the collaboration of technology providers, utilities, and public authorities.
Hera Comm’s network expansion reflects a growing trend across Europe, where coordinated actions at the local level are enabling more sustainable transport solutions.
For Wallbox, this project represents an opportunity to support clean mobility through technologies designed to optimise uptime, grid interaction, and user experience.
