MENNEKES has entered the direct current (DC) charging segment through the acquisition of CHARGE-V’s product portfolio, a Munich-based startup that is part of the VISPIRON Group. The asset deal was signed in early May.
Based on CHARGE-V’s technology—including the Compact 80, Compact 160 and the Smart 500 dispenser—MENNEKES will develop a new DC product line to be launched in 2026. These systems will be aimed at industrial and commercial applications, complemented by related services.
“This acquisition is a strategic step toward offering complete solutions under the trusted MENNEKES quality,” said Christopher Mennekes, Managing Partner, after the signing.
CHARGE-V, founded five years ago and employing 30 people, specializes in intelligent DC charging systems. “We’ve built a strong foundation, and this transfer will allow our technology to scale further,” noted Christopher Lehne, Managing Director of CHARGE-V.
VISPIRON CEO Amir Roughani added that the group will now focus on hybrid power plant development and operation.
The acquired systems are still undergoing conformity certification under German regulations. Until this process is complete, no specific launch date will be set.
The upcoming MENNEKES-branded chargers will offer 80 kW (2 x 40 kW) and 160 kW (2 x 80 kW) options, featuring a new design. Volker Lazzaro, MENNEKES Managing Director, stated the move will strengthen the company’s role in the eMobility infrastructure market.
