Mer charging points

Today, Mer operates over 10,000 publicly accessible charging points across Europe.

Over the next four years, the company plans to build more than 6,000 new charging points, with 1,800 scheduled for completion in 2025.

Nearly 50% of next year’s expansion is secured through partnership agreements.

“We know that electric vehicle (EV) drivers value the ability to run errands while charging. Our partnership strategy ensures the expansion of our charging network in priority markets across Europe, at attractive locations where people travel and need charging facilities,” says Vidar Eide, Chief Commercial Officer of Mer.

“Collectively, these agreements provide a solid foundation for scaling our European operations,” he adds.

The company now has agreements with over ten partners.

In 2024, its focus on retail chains has yielded results, with a portfolio that includes IKEA, Dennree, and MPREIS.

The most recent agreement is a renewal and extension with Coop Norge SA.

Coop: The Latest Partnership

Mer and Coop Norge SA recently signed a renewed and extended partnership agreement, securing the development of at least 215 new charging points across 37 locations in Norway by 2025.

This will increase the number of chargers by more than 50%.

The company will also upgrade several existing charging sites with faster chargers.

“This agreement allows us to increase the number of new charging stations and upgrade several existing ones with higher charging speeds,” says Nicholai Sheridan Jørgensen, Managing Director of Mer Norway.

Mer’s partnership strategy extends beyond building charging stations.

It also aims to create meaningful benefits for shared customers.

“We have a clear strategy to ensure excellent customer experiences and benefits in collaboration with our partners, and we’ve had a very positive experience working with Coop,” says Malene Brøvig, Director of Public Charging at.

“Access to EV charging is an important factor for many customers when choosing where to shop. Coop is owned by its customers, and we aim to meet their needs while strengthening Coop’s commitment to sustainable solutions,” says Thomas Stemland, Head of Value-Added Services and Corporate at Coop Norge.

He continues: “By providing more charging points at shopping locations, we make daily life easier for our members and support the transition to greener transport.”
