Pelican announces a new repeat order from Nottingham City Transport (NCT): it will supply another 14 Yutong Single Deck electric vehicles (EVs).
Thanks to a successful Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas bid with Nottingham City Council, NCT currently have 24 fully electric Yutong single-decker buses are on the road.
The operator recently celebrated 250,000 zero-emission kilometres.
A further batch of 24 vehicles will be delivered in early 2025.
NCT is on track to have a fully electric single-deck fleet within the next 18 months, with an further 14 vehicles ordered this month for 2026 delivery.
Sean O’Sullivan, Head of Engineering for NCT, states: “The first 24 vehicles have performed really well. We have seen energy efficiency increase by 10% as we have undergone an extensive driver training course during the vehicles implementation into our operations.”
And he continues: “Passenger and driver feedback has been excellent, with extremely positive reaction to the customer centric features we implemented with Pelican and Yutong.”
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong UK at Pelican, responds: “The NCT team challenged us to further develop a vehicle that built upon our tried, tested and proven technology. They were the first to request full colour destination screens, revised passenger information systems, swept handrails, NCT specified seats and flooring.”
“We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this additional order, and have 100% of NCT’s single deck fleet with Pelican,” he adds.
