Liux has today unveiled the final prototype of its innovative lightweight urban model, the Geko, a small and compact two-seater electric vehicle designed and manufactured in Spain using sustainable materials.
The presentation took place at OK Mobility’s headquarters in Palma de Mallorca, further endorsing the agreement reached between the two companies earlier this summer, whereby OK Group became the main investor in Liux and the mobility platform committed to acquiring 5,000 units of the small electric vehicle over the next three years.
In July, OK Group became a partner and the first investor in the electric vehicle startup Liux after reaching an agreement aimed at the business growth of the project, which should provide the necessary momentum for the emerging Spanish company to develop in the market.
Through its OK Ventures Capital division, the mobility company decided to back Liux and work together to position the company in the market.
5,000 units for OK Mobility services
Liux’s collaboration with OK Group represents a crucial investment for both companies and is the first of its kind that the mobility company, based in the Balearic Islands, has made specifically with a vehicle manufacturer.
Additionally, OK Group has also committed to acquiring 5,000 units of the Liux Geko over the next three years to offer them as rental vehicles through the various mobility services provided by its global platform, OK Mobility.
“This agreement allows us to secure a significant boost for the production of the LIUX GEKO, which will begin in the second half of 2025 in Spain,” said Antonio Espinosa, CEO of LIUX, who described the new prototype of the Liux GEKO as “a commitment to a new way of understanding urban mobility.”
Its innovative design, energy efficiency, and use of sustainable materials make it a unique product in the market.
“With the GEKO, we are demonstrating that it’s possible to combine advanced technology with spectacular, environmentally friendly design.”
Up to 230 km range
With a base range of 170 km, extendable up to 230 km on a single charge, thanks to the energy efficiency achieved, exceeding 13 km/kWh, the Geko has been specially designed using highly sustainable materials “with the aim of redefining 21st-century urban mobility.”
For OK Group CEO and OK Mobility founder Othman Ktiri, the agreement between both companies “goes beyond the mere provision of vehicles.”
It’s about creating synergies that will enable us to successfully tackle the new technological and sustainability challenges posed by mobility, as reported by Motor16.
In this regard, we couldn’t have chosen a better partner than LIUX, a ‘Made in Spain’ startup that embodies everything we are passionate about: entrepreneurship, mobility, and sustainability.”
