The Municipality of Parma is strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) charging network by selecting operators to develop new infrastructure.
Following a public tender, thirteen operators have been chosen to install over 30 new fast and ultra-fast charging stations, each exceeding 250 kW and equipped with three chargers featuring two charging points each.
This expansion will enhance the existing network, currently comprising 81 charging stations and over 150 charging points.
This initiative, financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), aligns with Parma’s commitment to achieving climate neutrality by 2030. Expanding charging infrastructure is essential to accelerating EV adoption by making the technology more accessible for both citizens and businesses.
A widespread and efficient charging network represents a concrete step toward reducing pollutant emissions and improving air quality, in line with European environmental sustainability goals.
The municipal administration will now initiate agreements with the selected operators, following the ranking order, to proceed with the installation and management of the new charging stations.
“Expanding the EV charging network is a concrete step toward promoting the transition to more sustainable mobility. Transportation is one of the key sectors in achieving the ambitious goals of Parma Climate Neutral,” states Gianluca Borghi, Parma’s Councillor for Environmental Sustainability, Energy, and Mobility.
“This initiative is part of a broader strategy to make Parma’s mobility increasingly green, with public transport enhancement and cycling infrastructure expansion as key pillars.”
Once completed, Parma will have 170 charging stations, providing approximately 340 charging points. The power output will range between 22 kW and 250 kW, meaning charging times will vary from 4 hours to just 30 minutes.
