PowerGo launches dynamic charging prices in Spain

PowerGo launches dynamic electric vehicle (EV) charging prices in Spain, directly linked to hourly electricity market prices.

PowerGo has launched Spain’s first dynamic pricing system for EV charging. Charging prices vary based on hourly electricity market prices, allowing EV drivers to save money and plan their charging sessions more efficiently.

PowerGo’s dynamic prices are now available at the operator’s more than 50 charging points in Spain. The prices are directly linked to the EPEX, the European market for electricity trading. Electricity prices can vary per hour, based on European supply and demand. Prices are lower when there is a low demand or a surplus of electricity supply. Higher prices occur when the electricity demand is high or when there is a limited supply.

“With dynamic prices, we encourage EV drivers to charge when more renewable energy is available on the grid. This makes charging both cheaper and greener.”

“By linking our prices to market conditions, we make smart charging more attractive for EV drivers and promote efficient energy use. In doing so, we support the development of a sustainable and future-proof charging infrastructure,” added Cardoner.

The PowerGo Charge app provides users with real-time insights on charging prices for the following hours, facilitating smart charging planning and enabling direct savings on charging costs. This transparency and pricing flexibility represent a significant advantage for both private drivers and companies that manage electric fleets.

A growing presence in Spain

PowerGo continues its growth in Spain, with plans to roll out 126 new charging points in the coming months, while strengthening its European leadership with new locations in Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and Belgium.

The newest fast chargers are located at Zona Dièsel in Vic, with 320 kW ultra-fast charging points. In Palma, PowerGo has installed a 120 kW fast charger at Maisons du Monde.

Another recent example is a public tender from SEITT, Spain’s state-owned transport infrastructure company, where PowerGo will install 24 ultra-fast charging points at six service areas at R2, R3 and R5 around Madrid.

With over 1,700 charging points across Europe, PowerGo is growing its footprint through multiple partnerships. The company offers charging solutions without requiring upfront investment from its partners. PowerGo takes full responsibility for installation, operation, and maintenance of the charging infrastructure.

As part of its broader commitment to sustainability, PowerGo is also active in the renewable energy sector and generates energy through solar parks operated by its parent company, PowerField.
