Mercedes-Benz has handed over 40 eSprinter chassis with box bodies to food retailer REWE in Berlin, Germany.
A further 24 units will soon be ready for service at the company’s site in Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia.
At the same time, the REWE Fulfilment Centre in Berlin-Tempelhof has been equipped with suitable charging infrastructure, featuring a total of 42 stations where the vehicles can be charged with up to 22 kW.
“We are delighted to support REWE with our eSprinter vehicles and contribute to making everyday life easier for many people. These vehicles are ideally suited to the needs of our commercial customers in terms of efficiency and range,” says Andreas Böger, Head of New Vehicle Sales at Mercedes-Benz Vans Germany
“We chose the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter not only because it meets our efficiency requirements, but also due to its reliability and flexibility. With these vehicles, we offer our customers a locally CO₂-emission-free delivery option,” states Clemens Bauer, Director REWE E-Commerce
Like the eSprinter panel van, the eSprinter chassis is available in two lengths and with three different battery capacity options.
The chassis offers flexibility for a range of body configurations depending on individual customer requirements.
The vehicles for the REWE delivery service are equipped with a powerful 150 kW (204 hp) motor and an 81 kWh high-voltage battery.
They were built at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Ludwigsfelde and then fitted with refrigerated box bodies by certified body builders SOMMER and Spier to meet REWE’s operational needs.
The load volume of the boxes is just under 18 m³.
