Starbucks UK and Osprey Charging Network have joined forces to unveil their inaugural electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging facility at the newly opened drive-thru on Intown Road in Aberdeen.
This collaboration marks the beginning of a broader initiative to establish convenient EV charging locations for Starbucks customers across the UK.
Osprey Charging, a prominent rapid electric vehicle charging network in the UK, and Starbucks UK are proud to announce the launch of their first rapid charging facility, equipped with three 75kW charge points compatible with all electric vehicles on the market.
Positioned alongside the new Starbucks drive-thru, this development aims to enhance Aberdeen’s EV charging infrastructure and contribute to local decarbonization efforts.
These 75kW charge points can add approximately 100 miles of range in just 30 minutes, providing an ideal opportunity for Starbucks customers to recharge both their vehicles and themselves with their favorite Starbucks beverages and food.
Designed with simplicity in mind, the chargers accept various payment methods, including contactless bank cards, Apple/Google Pay, the Osprey App, RFID card payments, and all major third-party payment methods, including fleet cards.
Jacqui Wetherly, Director of Sustainability at Starbucks UK, expressed the company’s commitment to sustainable choices, stating, “The opening of the EV charging point at Aberdeen is a great example of this and is the first of several such projects we have planned.”
She emphasized the critical role of convenient charging in making electric vehicles a practical choice for consumers.
Andrew Nosworthy, Commercial Director at Osprey Charging, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to be working with Starbucks UK to bring reliable, rapid EV charging facilities to their customers.”
He highlighted that the Aberdeen location improves access to public EV charging in the east of Scotland, supporting the broader national goal of decarbonizing transportation.
The next Starbucks location set to benefit from Osprey EV charging is slated to be at the St Johns Retail Park in Bedford, Bedfordshire.
Osprey Charging’s commitment to safety and accessibility has earned them high ratings from the independent inspection body ChargeSafe.
The network was recently recognized as one of the top three in the UK for customer satisfaction in 2023 by the annual Zapmap EV Driver Survey.
