The Netherlands continues to cement its position as one of Europe’s frontrunners in electric mobility, with fast-charging infrastructure playing an increasingly pivotal role in supporting the country’s growing electric vehicle (EV) fleet.
As of May 2025, there are 4,463 high-power fast chargers (≥100 kW) installed across the country, marking a decisive shift toward ultra-fast charging as the new standard.
This report is part of a Mobility Portal Europe analysis based on the latest data provided by Gireve, offering a snapshot of the charge point operators (CPOs) most actively shaping the high-power charging network in the Netherlands.
While the Dutch network historically focused on kerbside AC charging, the needs of long-distance travel, fleet electrification, and rapid battery replenishment have pushed the system toward fast DC charging.
A handful of operators now dominate this critical infrastructure — but the competition remains broad and fast-moving.
Here is the Top 5 ranking of CPOs in the Netherlands, measured by the number of active high-power charge points:
1. Fastned
• 1,060 fast chargers
• 302 MW of installed capacity
• +10% year-on-year growth

2. Tesla
• 912 fast chargers
• 192 MW of installed capacity
• +11% year-on-year growth
Tesla’s Supercharger network remains a major asset, now increasingly open to non-Tesla vehicles and crucial to high-speed intercity travel.

3. Shell Recharge
• 529 fast chargers
• 102 MW
• +41% year-on-year growth
Shell Recharge has become one of the fastest-expanding operators, focusing on city hubs, retail locations, and highly trafficked corridors.
4. bp pulse
• 416 fast chargers
• 59 MW
• +36% year-on-year growth

5. Allego

• 239 fast chargers
• 59 MW
• +3% year-on-year growth
While experiencing more moderate growth, Allego continues to play a steady role in the Dutch charging mix, especially in metropolitan and suburban zones.
Combined, these five operators account for over 3,150 of the country’s fast charging points, representing more than 70% of the national total.
Fastned and Tesla alone operate 44% of all high-power chargers, highlighting their strategic dominance.
Nonetheless, the market remains fragmented, with over 100 different CPOs currently active — maintaining a healthy level of competition and innovation.
