Osprey Charging, the UK’s third largest open-access rapid charging network, and Legal & General have unveiled their first ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging hub, located on North Orbital Road at Woodside Leisure Park, Watford.

This milestone marks the launch of a strategic collaboration to deliver five state-of-the-art charging hubs across the country.

The new site features 16 ultra-rapid 300 kilowatts charge points, capable of adding up to 100 miles of range in just 15 to 20 minutes.

The chargers are arranged in three sections that seamlessly integrate into the existing car park layout, ensuring an easy and efficient experience for EV drivers.

Strategically situated to the north of Watford near the M1 and M25 motorways, the hub enables motorists to recharge while enjoying leisure and dining options at the site, including Starbucks, wagamama, Nando’s UK & IRE and Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Parks.

A second 16-bay site is currently under construction at Highbridge Retail Park in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

The remaining hubs will be located in Greater Manchester, Ipswich and Dudley.

In total, the five locations will provide 72 cutting-edge EV charging bays, designed to support the UK’s transition to electric mobility.

Legal & General’s EV charging strategy reflects its commitment to future-proofing its assets through high-quality EV infrastructure, while enhancing long-term value for both tenants and retail customers.

Knight Frank’s National EV Solutions team advised L&G – Asset Management on the project appointment.

Jake Goldby, Head of Acquisition at Osprey Charging Network, says: “This project is a brilliant example of how strategic partnerships can accelerate the UK’s transition to electric mobility.”

“It’s been a pleasure to work alongside Legal & General’s Terry Martin whose pragmatic approach to sustainable infrastructure is setting a benchmark for the industry, and the whole Knight Frank team whose expert advice helped bring this vision to life,” he adds.
