Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) and ENGIE – through its subsidiary ENGIE Vianeo – are creating a new jointly-owned company to finance, design, connect, install and operate fast and ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
This collaboration, focused on the provision of green electricity, reflects both companies’ commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting sustainable mobility.
As part of this partnership, 50 and 400 kilowatts (kW) charging points will be installed at 12 of URW’s shopping centres across France.
Installation work will begin in summer 2025, with the first stations expected to go live from September 2025.
Fast charging (average charging time of around 1 hour 30 minutes) and ultra-fast charging (average charging time of 20 to 30 minutes) will cater to different usage scenarios: a quick top-up during a short stop at the shopping centre, or a more complete charge during a longer shopping visit.
12 shopping centres equipped with charging stations
Each shopping centre will have a station with approximately 15 chargers compatible with all vehicles, comprising a total of 134 ultra-fast charging points and 242 fast charging points, located in both outdoor and multi-storey car parks.

Aunque el texto normativo aún no se ha publicado, el ministerio ha adelantado que la propuesta busca favorecer el uso de vehículos cero emisiones dentro de los márgenes que permite la legislación comunitaria. Sin embargo, la central sindical considera que esta flexibilización supone un riesgo para la seguridad en carretera.
