The electrification of corporate fleets is undeniably advantageous, and that cannot be contradicted.
It stimulates the second-hand market (as vehicles are sold after approximately 40 months of use) and paves the way for a more affordable supply of electric vehicles (EVs) to individuals.
Urko Cantalapiedra, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer at Veltium highlights an alternative to consolidate this commitment:
“We should consider a simplified MOVES Plan for companies with an average of 1 to 7 employees to further accelerate the adoption of electromobility.”
At the last Mobility Portal Group summit, the executive delved into a sector that is currently not receiving much attention.
Currently, more than 60 per cent of annual vehicle sales in Europe are corporate vehicles, representing over 6 million new vehicles each year.
However, most of them are still not electric.
The available plans for this channel offer financial assistance for the purchase of electric vehicles, including cars, vans, and motorcycles.
The amounts available cover between 4,000 and 7,000 euros for vehicle replacement.
However, the reality is that applications determine the investments to be made.
The process involves submitting all technical and specific documentation within the application deadlines.
And it’s important to remember that the MOVES III Plan ends on 31 December.
The process can be complex, as it includes a preliminary validation phase, followed by a second phase until the grant is approved.
Depending on the autonomous community and the type of municipality, the managing body may vary.
Therefore, Veltium always advises to “seek expert help.”
“The advice I would give to those looking to enter the eMobility sector is to ask for guidance, present their use case, as it’s not just a change in how we move but also in how we think,” says Cantalapiedra.
He adds:
“In Spain, we always talk about large companies, here there are 5,500 with over 250 employees, but 94% of the total have between 1 and 7 on average, accumulating a total of 3.2 million companies,” the executive further notes.
In this regard, the expert calls on the administration to design a model tailored to the conditions of SMEs, which cannot rely on a full team to handle subsidy applications.
The window for change is not entirely closed. At the beginning of the summer, the national government announced the extension of the MOVES III Plan until 31 December 2024.
Meanwhile, companies and associations continue working to propose new models that make the execution of subsidies as effective and accessible as possible.
Veltium and its eMobility solutions for businesses
“Recently, we developed a solution for companies to monitor, supervise, and compensate for home-based charging of their employees’ vehicles, and it’s been a great success,” says Veltium’s executive.
When people think of fleets, they usually think only of last-mile or commercial delivery vehicles.
But the reality is that many corporate vehicles are used daily and in private life, not parked at a corporate base but at the employee’s home.
This means that the charging point is often at the employee’s home, leaving employers uncertain about how to monitor and compensate for these charges.
To address this need, Veltium offers a solution:
“Our Fleet-at-home solution has already been adopted by several multinational companies, with increasing demand, and it’s delivering exceptional results.”
But what exactly is this product?
Primarily, it’s a testament to Veltium’s innovative spirit.
It simplifies the management of electrified vehicle fleets with home charging for employees.
This solution addresses the challenges companies face during the transition from fuel-powered to electric vehicles.
It combines the installation of LITE home chargers in employees’ homes with specific management software, enabling businesses to easily handle the information needed to pay for electricity consumption.
It has been successfully implemented by multinational corporations in various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, courier services, automotive, and furniture and decoration, demonstrating its versatility and effectiveness.
Focus on Veltium’s LITE line
One of Veltium’s most notable products to date, known for its ease of installation, use, and management, is the LITE charger.
This device provides smart charging solutions for plug-in vehicles, featuring a compact and functional design, making it universal and compatible with all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the market.
In this regard, the company has developed and recently launched a specific solution for businesses, facilitating the supervision of fleets with home-based charging for employees.
Thus, the combination of Veltium’s LITE chargers and the LITE Dashboard platform offers a 360º solution for both corporate fleet managers and employees.
“Companies want to stay ahead of what’s to come and maintain a focus on renewable energy,” adds Urko Cantalapiedra.
Today, Veltium’s corporate offering allows charging points to be linked to photovoltaic panels, and they continue to add solutions to meet these needs.
Bidirectional charging is also an aspect they are planning for the medium term.
