Voldt, the prominent Dutch manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) charging cables, has successfully doubled and tripled its annual turnover over the past three years.
This is a milestone they hope to achieve again in 2024.
“This year, we anticipate another doubling of our growth, building on the achievements of the previous year,” states Thom de Koff.
According to the company’s founder, the secret to this success lies in a combination of constant innovation and a specialised approach that enables them to deliver customised products for any type of charging situation or vehicle.
“Since our inception, we have invested significantly in developing our offering, focusing primarily on charging cables, which allows us to provide solutions tailored to each specific need,” he tells Mobility Portal Europe.
The firm, which started as a small subsidiary of a family-owned company with a long tradition in the automotive industry, has grown exponentially over the past three years.
Currently, Voldt operates in 12 European countries and has dedicated websites for each market, such as Voldt.fr for France and Voldt.nl for the Netherlands.
This strategy enables them to cater to a wide range of customers, including electric vehicle owners dissatisfied with the quality of their current cables, “whether they are defective, too short, or too long.”
They also serve companies that install charging stations and require specific equipment for their installations.
“We are looking to expand to more business clients, such as re-sellers, and car- and truck manufacturers,” de Koff reveals.
He emphasises: “As the market develops in the coming years, we will also expand our business opportunities.”
The firm is primarily focused on the European market, where vehicle electrification continues to grow.
In this context, they have just launched their website in Finland.
“Additionally, we are observing new developments in places like Poland and other Eastern European countries, so as demand for charging cables increases, we will also address those locations,” he discloses.
Voldt aims to look towards the future with a global perspective.
“We are considering expanding into markets outside the continent, such as the United States, but for now we see enough growth opportunities in Europe,” he states.
What connectors does Voldt offer?
The firm provides a wide range of solutions, from cables for domestic plugs to options for industrial charging stations.
Their offering includes Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 devices, with the latter being specifically for the French market.
“Although currently 95% of our connectors on the continent are Type 2, we are prepared to adapt to new demands,” he asserts.
One of the distinctive features of their products is their robustness and adaptability to extreme weather conditions.
The cables are designed to withstand low temperatures and adverse weather, a crucial feature in markets such as Norway.
“Our cables are IP65-rated, meaning they are resistant to water and dust, and are designed to remain flexible even in cold climates,” de Koff explains.
It is worth mentioning that the company has its sights set on the electric truck and trailer market as an emerging area with great potential.
Although currently focused primarily on providing products for electric cars, Voldt is also already active with products for the eTruck market, such as the mobile DC 40 kilowatts (kW) charger.
In this way, the company stands out not only for its high-quality product offering but also for its focus on customer satisfaction and its ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving markets such as the electrification of Truck.
“We always strive to stay at the forefront, innovating and investing heavily in our product to continue offering the best possible solution,” he comments.
How to purchase Voldt’s equipment?
According to the company’s founder, all products can be purchased online via the website, which varies depending on the country.
They supply charging cables for electric cars from their warehouse to both individuals and businesses, with dispatches made within 24 hours.
The firm offers Type 2 products compatible with most EVs, such as the Tesla Model 3, Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid, and Mitsubishi Outlander.
It is available in two configurations: with two conductors for single-phase vehicles and with four conductors for three-phase vehicles.
The four conductors include one neutral (N) and three three-phase conductors (L1, L2, and L3).
For single-phase vehicles, the L2 and L3 remain inactive.
The charging capacity ranges from 11 kW at 16 amps (A) to 22 kW at 32 A.
