Inauguration First Deutschlandnetz Charging Park in Augsburg

The first Deutschlandnetz charging park in Bavaria has been ceremoniously inaugurated in Augsburg.

The four new hyperchargers at Gubenerstraße 7 in Augsburg will be built and operated by BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG.

With the new hyperchargers, customers of the Augsburg industrial park now have access to four charging stations with a capacity of up to 200 kilowatts per charging point.

Located near the B17, with direct access to the A8, the new BayWa Mobility Charging Park is situated on a strategically important traffic artery and closes a “white spot” in Germany’s nationwide charging network in the Augsburg Ost Oberhausen/Neusäß area.

The site features ample parking spaces, public Wi-Fi, and surveillance cameras.

“In close cooperation with Stadtwerke Augsburg, we have achieved a real sprint in terms of network connection. This confirms us as a newcomer in the CPO business and shows how well BMS is anchored in the market and in the municipalities,” says Christian Krüger, BMS Managing Director.

“With the newly opened charging park, the Deutschlandnetz is taking shape location by location. This is the next milestone and great news for electric vehicle drivers,” adds Dagmar Fehler, Co-Director of the National Control Centre for Charging Infrastructure at NOW GmbH, which was commissioned by the BMDV to implement the Deutschlandnetz.

He continues, “From today, you will find a new and attractive charging facility in Augsburg. The more than 1,000 locations with around 9,000 ultra-fast charging points of the Deutschlandnetz are currently being implemented and will help to expand the charging infrastructure across Germany in the future in a comprehensive, needs-based, and user-friendly way.”

With the Deutschlandnetz, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) is creating a total of 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations.

They are being established in rural regions, cities, and unmanaged motorway service areas.

The inauguration was attended by Christian Rose, Managing Director of swa Netze; Sandra Markt, Project Director of swa Netze; Christian Krüger, Managing Director of BMS; Dr Wolfgang Huebschle, Economic Director of the City of Augsburg; Peter Flierl, Head of Heat Division at BayWa AG; and Daniel Medawar, Head of Network Development at the BMS Charging Park.
