Fundación ONCE will participate in Global Mobility Call 2024, the leading international event on sustainable mobility, organized by IFEMA MADRID and Smobhub, from November 19 to 21 at the IFEMA fairgrounds.
At Fundación ONCE’s stand, attendees will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about two of their key projects in this area: “Walkerpisa” and “AccessRobots.”
“Walkerpisa” is an initiative led by Fundación ONCE through Inserta Innovación, aimed at creating a new smart pavement technology to enhance the inclusion of people with disabilities by providing safer and more accessible crossing points, whether or not they are regulated by traffic lights.
Visitors to the stand can witness demonstrations based on mixed reality recreations, where, through augmented reality, various situations at a real-life crossing setup will be simulated to help understand how this initiative works.
On the other hand, “AccessRobots” is the first robot capable of providing assistance to people with any type of disability in complex environments, such as bus stations, airports, hospitals, or large shopping centers.
Additionally, Fundación ONCE will host a roundtable discussion on mobility and accessibility solutions during this edition. It will take place on Wednesday, November 20, from 13:20 to 14:00 at the Agora Inspire, under the theme “AI for All: Inclusive Mobility through Smart Solutions.”
The participants will discuss how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing mobility by making transportation more accessible for people with disabilities.
According to the developers, AI-powered technologies are improving public transportation, navigation, and urban environments. They promote greater independence and ensure that mobility solutions are accessible to everyone.
The roundtable will feature representatives from the automotive sector, such as Renault, and other entities that are collaborating with Fundación ONCE on these new mobility technologies, which are either already being introduced or will gradually be implemented in cities and must be usable by all people.
The panel will include, among others, Almudena Alcaide, Head of R&D at Fundación ONCE, and Luis Palomares, Head of Information and Accessibility at the Personal Autonomy, Accessibility, Technology, and Innovation Directorate at ONCE.
